DigiKichesippi 2011 Launches

We are announcing our first summer contest, and it involves our new sponsor - Kichesippi Brewery.

We are calling it DigiKichesippi 2011 !

We are asking you to make a 30 or 60 second film about Kichesippi Brewery.

Kichesippi will be more than happy to have you visit the facility and talk to them to help give you a better idea of what they do, and how they do it. Just email Paul at:

First prize will be $150 in beer products, or an equal value coupon at a local restaurant.

Second prize will be $100 in beer products, or an equal value coupon at a local restaurant.

Third prize will be $50 in beer products, or an equal value coupon at a local restaurant.

Each filmmaker can submit two films, but those who attended the June 21st screening event will be able to enter three films. The films can stand alone, or cover a story arc.

Films will be judged by Kichesippi Breweries. All films that they deem "worthy" will be posted on the Digi60 web-site, and will also play as part of the Digi60 Gala Screenings for our Fall Film Festival

The contest starts June 21, and the deadline is August 20th - thatʼs 60 days.

For this contest, we are pleased to announce an exciting partnership with Cinevate.

All filmmakers who take part in our DigiKichesippi Summer Challenge will be given access to a Cinevate slider. Cinevate will also be including the pieces to allow you to turn this into a vertical slider - so weʼre excited to see what you guys will be able to create with it.

For our summer challenge, filmmakers will be able to book the slider for a 24 hour period.

But if you were a filmmaker at our June 21st Screening event, you will have the option of booking it for two separate 24 hour periods, or one 48 hour period.

We are hoping to have it by the end of this week, and should announce that we will be taking bookings starting next Monday, June 27th.

Bookings will be on a first come, first serve basis.

The Mayfair "Fake Trailer Real Festival", Festival

Josh Stafford is looking for submissions for "The Fake Trailer, Real Festival" to be held in June at the Mayfair Theatre. The idea is simple, create a fake trailer for a movie about 2-3 minutes long. He's looking for about 30 entries.

CBC Ottawa Is Looking for Short Films.

Dear Filmmaker,

CBC Television is pleased to announce a new program featuring short films from across Canada. Short Film Faceoff has already enjoyed three successful seasons in the Maritimes and is going to be broadcast across the country this summer. The critically acclaimed show is produced in partnership with the Atlantic Film Festival and has brought a new mainstream audience for short films and increased profile for their filmmakers. The CBC is looking for the best short films from every region to take part in this program.

In Short Film Faceoff, films are screened and a panel of industry professionals will provide commentary as well as discuss the creative and technical aspects of the films with the filmmakers.

The series has a competitive component: The studio audience will vote to choose three finalists and the viewing audience will ultimately vote for the top film. The CBC and sponsors will be offering a prize made up of cash and production services to be used by the winning filmmaker towards his or her next film.

Films must be under 12 minutes in length, must have been completed in the past two years, and must not have been broadcast on television. We are looking for comedies and dramas. Music videos and documentaries are not suitable for this program. Directors must be available for tapings at CBC Halifax from May 17 to 19. The program producers will pay all travel and accommodation costs for the production.
